....And We're Outta Here!

Yes, Nolan and I have officially moved out of the house and into my parents house. Martin is still there swimming in cloud of cement dust as he preps the concrete to lay the hardwood floors. Nolan and I miss him TONS!! It's so hard not to complain about him being gone but I have to bite my tounge because he's making such awesome progress and baby Gabby is only 68 days away from arrival. I'm trying to remind myself that it would be much tougher if all this was going on after Gabby arrives. He's even speding his birthday laying floors...poor guy.

Speaking of birthdays....
Apparently the birds and the bees of spring = lots of January birthday's. Nolan and I have been filling the daddy void with birthday cake and ice cream every weekend, sometimes twice in one weekend.

Happy Birthday Grayson & Dixson, Grant, Papa Joyce, Scarlett and Loralai. Not to mention Daddy this weekend!

...and we still have Kennedy, Makena, Mommy, and Grandma Fletcher next month

....followed by the March Monkey Gang!

Let me tell you, Nolan is going to know how to spell C-A-K-E by the time this is all said and done!

Sun and Snow

It has been crazy warm around here lately. We're talking high 70's to low 80's at the beach! Nolan spent Thursday morning in a swim diaper playing with the dogs and his water table out in the courtyard. When I finally put him down for a nap we stayed with the "naked Nolan" theme and he just went to sleep in a diaper.

Funny enough, Thursday was also Snow Day at Farmer's Market. They shipped in something like 15 tons of snow and made play areas for different age groups to frolic in the snow. Nolan equipped himself with gloves and got to spend a whopping 5 minutes in the snow before the next group of kids moved in.
Even though the snow play didn't last as long as we had hoped, there was no shortage of things to do. Nolan spent some time exploring an art gallery that had a designated spot that he could make his own art work on the wall. Unfortunately, the markers were permanent colored Sharpies but not to worry, I'm sure his skin cell will shed and so will the marker on his face ... eventually. Then we were off to Puppet Theater with a storyline very similar to Little Red Riding Hood. Nolan joined in with the "yeah's" "boo's" "yes's" and "no's" and really enjoyed himself. After sampling some fruit, he got to explore a real live fire truck. All in all, it was a pretty fun day for it just being Thursday!

Under Construction

Wow.. It's been over a month since I've last posted in my blog, and with good reason! We are in the process of replacing all of our carpeting with wood floors. The dogs had an accident in our bedroom while we were out of town and I think that was the last straw for us. Dogs, kids and me (the biggest culprit) do not go well with light colored carpet. We're just so tired of cleaning something that is always dirty...even after a good scrubbing. Martin's brother replaced his carpet with Pergo and gave Martin a chance to get his hands dirty at his place before giving it a whirl at our house.
Martin has made great progress on all the prep work. We are now down to just concrete throughout the entire house with the exception of the stairs (for comfort) and our bedroom (for now). Furniture is randomly all over the house and we've had our computer disconnected for a couple of weeks. And I thought caffine withdraw was bad, that ain't nothing next to computer withdraw!
We are motivated by the fear of baby! I am due in just 10 weeks and the floors aren't due to arrive until late January. The wood has been on backorder and the arrival date pushed back twice. Martin is doing all the prep work and installation so I am continually reminding him of the baby countdown. I think I pushed him over the edge when I told him that technically I am full term in just 6 weeks. He threatened to just throw epoxy?..poxy? down on the concrete and call the job done. I think I'll just shut my mouth from here on out.
He's done a great job getting the baby room ready. He did all the painting complete with a highlight wall, blue sky ceiling and crown molding. Wow! Nolan is excited about the changes and loves running around the living room with his baby doll stroller and playing ball with Cody. I think he's going to be the only one bummed about the wood floors going in.
I'll be slowly posting pictures of all our holiday adventures.
